PERMANENT MAKEUP FAQ

What is Permanent Makeup?

Permanent cosmetic makeup is cosmetic tattooing. The specialized techniques used for permanent cosmetics are often referred to as “micropigmentation”, “micropigment implantation” or “dermagraphics”. The cosmetic implantation technique deposits colored pigment into the upper reticular layer of the dermis.

How long does the procedure take?

The initial appointment includes consultation, consent forms, procedure and aftercare information and typically takes about three hours.

How long does it take to heal?

Everyone’s skin heals differently and most clients develop patchy areas or notice gradual fading after the first treatment. Some skin types will heal faster than others, and certain types of skin will retain pigment longer. It is important to understand that this is a two-part process and the final results are accomplished with a second touch-up treatment which is after 6 weeks from initial appointment.

Is the touch up necessary?

Permanent makeup procedures normally requires multiple treatment sessions. For best results, client is required to to return for at least one perfecting treatment service session which is included in the initial service cost. This treatment service is scheduled immediately after the first treatment, and should take place 6 weeks after the initial procedure.

Can I get a perfecting visit sooner than 6 weeks?

It's best to wait for the full 6 weeks in order to let your skin heal completely.

How long does it last?

Microblading lasts can last up to 2 years.  All other permanent makeup such as powder brows, eyeliner and lips can last 3-5 years.  All can be maintained by annual touch ups.  There are certain factors that can effect the longevity of your Microblading such as skin type, sun exposure, face products used and your own body's chemistry.  Everyone is different and can metabolize the pigment in the skin slower or faster than others.

How can I prepare for my appointment?

Be sure to follow all the pre-appointment instructions.  Bring in inspiration pictures so you can show what look you're going for.  Also, come in with your brows filled in if you normally fill them in with makeup.

If you are getting an eyeliner procedure, be sure to remove all eye makeup.  If possible, refrain from any eye makeup starting the day prior to make sure there is no makeup residue.  Bring glasses since contact lenses cannot be worn.
