Microblading FAQ

What is Microblading?

Microblading, also known as Eyebrow Embroidery and/or Eyebrow Feathering, is a form of Permanent Makeup,  which is implemented using a handheld tool comprised of between 6-14 micro needles in the shape of a blade, hence the name Microblade. This technique is performed without using a machine. Pigment is collected with the Microblades, which is attached to a handheld device, and then deposited into the epidermis, the outermost layer of skin. This technique gives the appearance of  extremely fine, crisp and natural looking hair strokes that last up to 2 years.

How long does the procedure take?

The initial appointment includes consultation, consent forms, procedure and aftercare information and typically takes about three hours.

How long does it take to heal?

Healing time is 6 weeks

How many sessions do I need?

Permanent makeup generally requires 1-3 sessions to achieve desired look.  Everyone heals differently due to skin condition, medication, sun exposure etc. so an exact number of sessions can't be determined. When you are close to 6 weeks healed you can contact Asel Artistry to discuss your results and if another session is needed.

Does it hurt?

Before the Microblading procedure, a topical anesthetic is applied to the area to minimize any discomfort, followed by a liquid anesthetic. You might feel slight discomfort but it is almost painless.

How long does it last?

Microblading lasts up to two years.  A touch-up may be required at 12 months or sooner for oily-skinned clients, those who tan often, or or often expose brow area to certain chemicals (facial peels, chlorine, anti-aging products, etc.). Pigment retention varies depending on skin type, age, aftercare, immune system, medications, and certain chemicals.

How can I prepare for my appointment?

Pre- Procedural Advice

  • One week before : stop taking the following supplements; Vitamin E, B6, Omega 3, Gingko Biloba, & St. John's Wort) as they contribute to thinning the blood and may affect anesthetic efficacy. You may resume taking your vitamins 72 hours after.

  • 72 hours before and after your Definition Brows Microblading appointment: avoid alcohol, caffeine, aspirin and any other related blood thinners.

  • On the day of your appointment: avoid caffeine and exercise. Wash your hair in the morning as you will need to avoid the shower for several days. Baths are recommended.

To ensure best results, make sure your health is in good condition. Get enough rest, & eat well prior to procedure.

How do I take care of it?

Are there any risks?

According to the SPCP, the possibility of problems with permanent makeup procedures is rare when all health standards are followed, especially in regards to the disinfection and sterilization of equipment.

Medical complications may also be related to post-procedural care, but these risks decrease when a person follows aftercare instructions properly.
